To leave any comments please follow this link: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/ZMLPVCP

Frisco, CO – The Town of Frisco announced today that it has been approached by developer David O’Neil about locating a Whole Foods Market on the Town’s Interstate Parcel. The parcel is located between Interstate 70 and Lusher Court, west of Safeway and the Summit Stage Transfer Center.

Whole Foods Market is the world’s leader in natural and organic foods, with more than 310 stores in North America and the United Kingdom. Whole Foods has been on Fortune’s “100 Best Companies to Work For” list for the last 15 years and is well known for its involvement in the local communities it serves.

Mayor Bill Pelham said Town Council is excited about the prospects for a Whole Foods Market and views it as a great opportunity. Public process will begin with a community dialogue and open house hosted by the Town on Tuesday, February 7th.

David O’Neil is well known to locals. In 1998 he began development of the Wellington Neighborhood, a deed restricted locals neighborhood in Breckenridge. More recently, he led the team that was selected to build Frisco’s Peak One Neighborhood, a traditional neighborhood located in Frisco.

O’Neil described Whole Foods as the crown jewel of national retailers and “definitely worthy of the community’s serious consideration.”

The open house will be held at the Frisco Town Hall. In an effort to provide all community members an opportunity for input, there will be three sessions for community dialogue on February 7th : a coffee session from 7:30 – 9:00am; a mid-day session from noon to 1:30pm; and, an after hours session from 5:30 – 7:00pm. For more information on the open house events, contact Jocelyn Mills at Jocelynm@townoffrisco.com or (970) 668-9130.

The Town of Frisco is again partnering with High Country Conservation to offer the Frisco Clean Tracks Business Program. This voluntary program offers technical support, cash incentives and recognition to businesses that want to go green. Assistance is offered for a variety of upgrades including recycling, composting, energy efficiency, purchasing policies, planning, transportation and more. Program space is limited so the Town encourages businesses to sign up as soon as possible.

The Town of Frisco has been partnering with High Country Conservation and the Governor’s Energy Office since 2009 through the Clean Tracks program. The overall mission of Clean Tracks is for Frisco to become a model mountain community committed to clean energy solutions, economic vitality, and environmental stewardship through: action, education, and inspiration. Businesses that join the program are provided with free energy and waste assessments, money for energy and waste improvements, public recognition and networking opportunities.

Several Frisco businesses participated in the Clean Tracks Business Program in 2011: Alpine Market and Deli, Backcountry Brewery, Gatherhouse, Maximum Comfort Pool and Spa, Medical Marijuana of the Rockies, Podium Sports, Rivers Clothing Company, Rocky Mountain Coffee Roasters, Shoe Inn Boutique, Winter Properties/Buyers Resource, and the Woods Inn. These businesses saved money through reduced energy usage and reduced waste, as well as reduced their overall carbon emissions. To sign up, learn more about the program and read about business success stories, please visit: http://www.friscogov.com/government/clean-tracks or www.highcountryconservation.org.

The Town of Frisco is working to improve public knowledge and involvement in the annual budgeting process. To accomplish this, new features are being added to the government website which will allow greater public education, participation, and awareness of the budget process. The Town will launch a new Budget page that offers two different components.

The first component will provide a breakdown of the budget process, the different departments that make up the Town and the different funds that make up the budget. It will explain where the funds for the Town come from and how they are allocated for the year. There will be featured videos from department heads describing the functions of their department and how they plan their budget. As well there will be information on the budget process and how citizens can get involved. This addition is where citizens can ask specific questions about the details of the budget.

The other component will provide information on the specific policy questions that are presented to council for the 2012 budget and will offer the ability for citizens to convey their thoughts electronically. Citizens will have the option to email questions or comments on specific policy questions as well as vote for, or against, a policy question.

The objective of this new site is to allow for more public participation throughout the budget process and to create a greater level of transparency. The site will be up and running by early September.

In addition to the new website functions, the Town will be holding a Budget Open House for citizens to come and learn more about the details of Frisco’s annual budget; where the money comes from, and where it goes. The intent of the Budget Open House will be to answer general budgetary questions the public may have.

Citizens are also encouraged to come to the Council Budget worksession where they will be able to ask questions and provide feedback to the Council on policy questions. The worksession will not be a place for general budget discussions, but is intended to allow for citizens to comment specifically on the policy questions. For details on when these events will be taking place you can view the budget calendar online at friscogov.com/budget.
