2009 Community Survey
The Town of Frisco 2009 Community Survey results are in – and overall full-time residents, and second homeowners are pleased with how the Town is doing business.
The 2009 Community Survey went out to nearly 3,000 people randomly selected off of the voter registration and county assessor’s list. The Town saw a very high response rate – with more than 32% of people filling out the survey.
“The high response rate reflects the quality of people we have living here – they are interested in their community and have ideas on how to affect change,” says Town Manager Michael Penny.
A majority of the respondents agreed on what to focus on in Frisco. When asked to allocate $100 to Town resources, the top four answers were recreation amenities, affordable housing, economic development, and open space areas, respectively.
When asked to identify problem areas in town, respondents answered with job opportunities, affordable housing, wildfire mitigation, environmental sustainability, economic development, and sense of community.
“These answers are in tune with the adopted council goals and objectives,” says Council member Kent Willis. “The Town Council feels it is focusing on the issues that are important to our residents and we will continue to work on finding solutions that benefit this community.”
A separate survey was also emailed to all business owners in town. The vast majority of respondents cited the high cost of doing business as their biggest challenge. Business owners would also like to see the Town invest more money into marketing and promotion, and be more flexible in Town regulations.
The Frisco Town Council was given a presentation on the survey results at its August 11 worksession. Each council member received a binder with complete survey results, which they are now reviewing.
“We really value these survey results, and look forward to the opportunity to take all of the comments and suggestions into consideration to make Frisco an even better place to live and work,” says Penny.
