Distinguished Budget Presentation Award Given to Town of Frisco
The Town of Frisco Finance Department is receiving high praise. The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) is awarding the Town with the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its 2009 Budget.
The award represents a significant achievement by the Town and reflects the commitment of staff to meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting. In order to receive the budget award, the Town of Frisco had to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation. The guidelines are designed to assess how well the Town’s budget serves as: a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guide, and a communications device.
“Having a solid budget document that’s transparent and easily accessible to the public is a high priority for the Town of Frisco,” explains Finance Director Bonnie Moinet. “While the ultimate responsibility for preparing the budget lies within the Finance Department, every other department contributes greatly to the document. All Town staff deserves credit for this award,” says Moinet.
The GFOA is a non-profit professional association serving more than 17,000 government finance professionals throughout North America. The GFOA’s Distinguished Budget Presentation Awards Program is the only national awards program in governmental budgeting.
