Frisco Introduces Another Way For Citizens to Participate In The Public Process Through The New Forum EngageFrisco.com

On September 29, 2012, the Town of Frisco will launch a new online forum, EngageFrisco.com. EngageFrisco.com allows citizens to interact, brainstorm and comment on town matters. Engage Frisco’s first topic will be a survey on the 2013 Budget Policy Questions. The site will continue as an open forum to express ideas and help shape the future of Frisco.

“Being able to provide input and have community collaboration 24/7 is taking the next step in community engagement.  That is the power of this.  The Town of Frisco is excited for the opportunity to engage residents to be involved in conversations that shape the future of our community,” states Jocelyn Mills, the Director of the Community Development Department.

The 2013 Frisco Budget will be available to citizens both on and offline.  Citizens are encouraged to learn about the budget process by visiting the government website, friscogov.com or by attending the budget open house.  Citizens can weigh in on the Budget Policy Questions through the new site EngageFrisco.com.  Lastly, citizens can attend the Budget Work Session on Tuesday, October 9.

The Town will be hosting a Budget Open House for citizens to come and learn more about the details of Frisco’s annual budget, where the money comes from and where it goes.  The intent of the Budget Open House will be to answer general budgetary questions.  The Budget Open House is on Wednesday, October 3, at the Frisco Visitor Information Center from 7:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.

If you are not able to make the Open House, Frisco has an educational budget site through friscogov.com. This site provides a breakdown of the budget process.   The Town strives to develop and explain where funds come from and how they are allocated.  Videos from the department heads describe the functions of their department and how they plan their budget.  As well, there will be information on the budget process and how citizens can get involved.  This can be found at friscogov.com.

EngageFrisco.com allows for public feedback on the specific policy questions presented to council for the 2013 budget.  Citizens have the option to comment on each question.

Citizens are encouraged to come to the Council Budget work session on Tuesday, October 9, 2012 where they will be able to make public comment to the Council on policy questions.  The work session will not be a place for general budget discussions, but is intended to allow citizens to comment specifically on the policy questions.  For details on when these events will be taking place, you can view the budget calendar online at friscogov.com/budget.   Please visit EngageFrisco.com to provide input and become more involved in the Town of Frisco’s Budget process.
