Town of Frisco Receives Two Awards for Their Financial Reporting
The Town of Frisco has received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting (CAFR) and the Award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting for the fiscal year ended December 31, 2009. Both awards were received by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA).
The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting. The CAFR award is judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the report.
The Award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting was received for the Towns 2009 Community Scorecard and is a prestigious national award recognizing conformance with the highest standards for preparation of state and local government popular reports. In order to receive this award a government unit must publish a Popular Annual Financial Report, whose contents conform to program standards of creativity, presentation, understandability and reader appeal.
This is the second year in a row that the Town of Frisco has won the CAFR award and the first year they have received the Award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financing Reporting. The GFOA is a non-profit professional association serving approximately 17,500 government finance professionals with offices in Chicago, IL and Washington, D.C.
