The Town of Frisco initiated the “Frisco backyard” plan in March 2022 for the development of a US Forest Service proposal in “Frisco’s backyard” that incorporates recreation resource management with wildfire fuel reduction efforts and considers other resource management needs in the project area known as “Frisco’s backyard”.
Where is Frisco’s Backyard?
This area encompasses the land located generally south of Frisco, comprised of Mount Royal, Miners Creek, Rainbow Lake, Ophir Mountain, and Gold Hill. While outside of Town of Frisco limits, these National Forest lands are a very important community recreation destination in “Frisco’s backyard”.
What is Happening and How do I provide Feedback?
This is a planning and evaluation process and no action has been decided yet, which is where you come in. The Forest Service is proposing approximately 1,250 acres of fuels reduction activities and approximately 25 miles of trails decommissioning, improvement, and construction activities near the Town of Frisco, as part of “Frisco’s backyard” plan and is seeking public comment on the plan by May 15, 2023.
Please provide your comments to the Forest Service by May 15, 2023.
