Countywide and Town Cleanup Week Begins Saturday, May 15, 2021

The Town of Frisco is participating in the Countywide Town Cleanup Week by inviting residents to clean up their neighborhoods, from Saturday, May 15 through Sunday, May 23, 2021. The traditional one-day countywide cleanup has morphed into a week long effort to give citizens a chance to come together as a community, while still maintaining physical distance as needed, to clean up neighborhoods, parks, open spaces, business areas and trails around Frisco in anticipation of summer.

How it Works

The Town will provide non-medical grade gloves and orange trash bags that volunteers can pick up all week long in the front vestibule at Frisco Town Hall at 1 Main Street. Volunteers are invited to clean areas around their neighborhood, where they walk their dogs, their favorite trailhead, or any other areas in Town that they feel could benefit from their efforts. When done cleaning, the Town requests that volunteers leave their litter-filled orange bags at the curb on any Town of Frisco street for Frisco Public Works staff to collect throughout the week.

This week long event is intended for cleaning public spaces only, and individual household waste, furniture and appliances will not be collected. The annual Hard-to-Recycle event will not be held this spring, but Summit County residents are invited to bring household hazardous waste like paint and household cleaners, as well as electronic waste, to the Summit County Resource Allocation Park for free, Monday – Friday 7:00 am -3:30 pm and Saturday 7:00 am – noon. Visit highcountryconservation.org for more recycling info.

Cleanup Day has always been a favorite event for locals who demonstrate their passion and sense of community by coming out to clean up almost two tons of trash annually in Frisco. Even as our community is opening up, the need for flexibility and some space to accommodate individual comfort levels among participants remains as we readjust to lifting restrictions,” stated Nora Gilbertson, Special Events Manager for the Town of Frisco.

Social Media Contest

In lieu of the usual volunteer picnic celebration, the Town of Frisco is supporting local businesses by awarding Love Frisco, Shop Frisco gift cards for use at a variety of Frisco shops and restaurants to cleanup volunteers through a social media contest that selects winners daily for most trash collected, most unique finds, and grossest finds.

To enter the social media contest participants must post photographs of their cleanup efforts on Facebook or Instagram or email photographs to TOFinfo@townoffrisco.com for submission.

  • For Instagram: Post volunteer photos with the hashtag #friscocleanup and tag @townoffrisco – profiles must be public for submissions to be visible.
  • On Facebook: Join the “Frisco Clean Up Week 2021” events page and upload volunteer cleanup photos there.
  • Social media contest participants are also asked to add the hashtags #grossest, #mostunique, and #icollectedthemost if they believe their clean up treasures could take top honors in those categories. Winners in those categories will receive special prizes.
