250/150 Art Banners

250/150 Art Banners
The Frisco Arts & Culture Council (FACC) is seeking student artists to design temporary artwork for display on the Town of Frisco’s Main Street light post banners. This project aims to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States and the 150th anniversary of Colorado’s statehood (250/150).
If students need additional resources for their research, we suggest they visit local museums and libraries, access online resources from Colorado PBS and History Colorado, and utilize government sites such as Colorado Parks & Wildlife and the Northern, Southern, and Mountain Ute Tribal websites.
Light Post Banners Celebrating the 250/150
This public art opportunity will support the mission of bringing more local art to Frisco by showcasing imaginative, unexpected designs along Main Street, which celebrate our history and community through the past and present. While the words “history” and “community” encompass many topics, we wish to celebrate what they mean to the students.
$50 Artist Commission Each for Up to 30 Students from Three Schools
Art from up to ten students each from Frisco Elementary, Summit Middle School, and Summit High School/Snowy Peaks will be chosen for display on Frisco Main Street lampposts. The selected artists will each receive a $50 payment and keep their banners after the exhibition concludes.
Students are encouraged to explore their preferred medium for the artwork, considering its suitability for appearing correctly on a portrait (vertical) banner sized 28.75″ x 24.5″; the artwork does not need to be this size exactly but should be vertical in orientation and able to scale to this size when printed on a banner. The Town of Frisco will print and install the banners in June, where they will remain up for Fourth of July celebrations and come down by the end of summer. Town staff will then contact students to ensure that they receive their banner.
Photographs of the Designs Due March 14, 2026
In the submission, please provide a portrait (vertical) photograph of your artwork and a brief one-to-two-paragraph letter describing the work’s inspiration and its relevance to the 250/150. Submissions must be submitted by 5:00pm MST on Saturday, March 14, 2026. We will let applicants know if they are selected by the end of April. A Town employee will reach out to selected artists to arrange for the photographing/scanning of the artwork for use in the final banner design.
Please contact Blair Miller at BlairM@TownofFrisco.com or 970-668-3428 with any questions.
