Main Street Infrastructure Work To Impact Eastbound Main Street from 5th to 6th Avenues and Briefly 5th Avenue

Infrastructure work associated with the Foote’s Rest hotel project will impact traffic on Frisco’s Main Street between 5th and 6th Avenues from October 5 through October 23, 2026. In addition, 5th Avenue from Main Street to Granite Steet will be impacted on Tuesday, October 6, 2026. The work includes installation of a new storm sewer line and storm drainage manhole.

Eastbound Main Street and Brief 5th Avenue Closure

To safely accommodate construction activities, the eastbound lane of Main Street will be closed between 5th and 6th Avenues while the work is underway in alignment with the right-of-way permit for this project, and on Tuesday, September 6 only, 5th Avenue will be closed from Main Street to Granite Street until approximately 1:00 pm. Westbound traffic and pedestrian access will be maintained on Main Street throughout the project.

Eastbound Detour

Eastbound motorists traveling on Main Street will be directed around the work zone using the following detour:

  1. Turn right onto 5th Avenue. Except on Tuesday, October 6, when the detour will be onto 4th Avenue, as 5th Avenue will be closed from Main Street to Granite Street until approximately 1:00 pm.
  2. Turn left on Granite Street to continue east.
  3. Turn left onto 6th Avenue.
  4. Rejoin Main Street at 6th Avenue.

Project Timing and Business Access

The Town of Frisco required that this infrastructure work be delayed until October. The work was originally proposed for mid-September, but delaying construction was intended to minimize the impact on local businesses during September, in consideration of high September visitor and business levels.

  • Access to local businesses and the parking on the north side of Main Street between 5th and 6th Avenues will remain available throughout the project.
  • Drivers should expect minor delays and are encouraged to use caution when traveling through the area.
  • The work is anticipated to be completed by October 23, weather and construction conditions permitting. If construction is completed ahead of schedule, the eastbound lane will reopen sooner.

Project Information

Most construction projects require some level of impact within the public right-of-way. Because the Foote’s Rest project is larger than typical, spans a whole block, is built directly adjacent to the right-of-way with no setback, and includes right-of-way improvements, such as a heated sidewalk, its impacts are greater than average. This project was approved through the building permit process, along with a separate right-of-way permit and the submittal of a construction management plan which addressed the impacts on the right-of-way including sidewalks and roadways.

The Foote’s Rest hotel project began construction in late 2025 and will construct more than 80 hotel rooms on Frisco’s Main Street as a boutique hotel in Marriott’s Tribute Portfolio. This $90.5 million mixed use hospitality redevelopment, located between 5th and 6th Avenues, will encompass 108,000 square feet across three stories above ground and one below. Developers anticipate that the project will be completed in late 2027.
