Pile Burning Planned for Wednesday, April 19

US Forest Service Fire Management personnel will be conducting pile burns on Wednesday, April 19, 2023. Pile burning operations are expected at Miners Creek adjacent to Centura – St. Anthony Summit Hospital in Frisco. Ignitions could be expected to begin around 10:00am. The purpose of this controlled burn is to help reduce fuel loading by removing piles of hazard trees, that will reduce fuel for wildfires.

What to Expect

Smoke and flames may be visible from I-70 and Highway 9/Summit Boulevard; in the Towns of Frisco, Breckenridge, Silverthorne, and Dillon; and from surrounding areas. Conditions are favorable, with moisture expected this week, the spread risk is minimized. Fire crews will be on the scene during the day to monitor smoke and will allow burns to smolder overnight, unattended.

Smoke to Continue on Thursday

No pile burning operations are anticipated on Thursday, April 20 near Frisco; however, piles will continue to smolder and produce smoke.
