Colorado Cup Expands to Frisco

This summer, two Frisco coffee shops will offer something new alongside your morning order: the Colorado Cup, a borrow-and-return reusable drinkware program from Colorado nonprofit Retrocycle. The Town of Frisco, in partnership with Retrocycle, offers a sustainable alternative to single-use drinkware available through participating, local cafés and coffee shops.

“We are excited to bring the Colorado Cup to Frisco. It’s a simple way for residents and visitors to reduce waste while supporting our local coffee community,” stated Nico Cruz, Town of Frisco’s Sustainability Coordinator.

How it works

Order your hot or cold drink in a Colorado Cup, leave a $2.50 deposit, and return it to any participating café when you are done. That deposit comes back as a discount on your next purchase. The cup gets washed on-site and goes right back into circulation, keeping single-use cups out of the waste stream. This program reduces the persistent waste created by disposable coffee cups which can’t actually be recycled or composted in Summit County.

Where to find a Colorado Cup

Participating locations in Frisco include Mountain Dweller Coffee Roasters and Rocky Mountain Coffee Roasters. Returns are accepted at either Frisco location or at any of the six participating cafés already in the network in Breckenridge, regardless of where the cup was originally borrowed. Users can visit the café map at retrocycle.org/map to find participating locations. Frisco marks the program’s first expansion, developed in collaboration with the town’s sustainability team.
