The Town of Frisco’s annual roadway maintenance program will include slurry seal work and street striping at several locations in Frisco from September 8-25. These projects will have an impact on traffic, and related closures will be signed several days prior. Residents are asked to plan ahead, as crews perform the necessary work. Frisco Public Works thanks all residents and visitors for their patience while this vital street work is completed during the short construction season.
Slurry Seal and Striping
Slurry seal is an asphalt coating that extends the life of existing pavement by sealing the roadway surface and protecting it from weather and traffic-related deterioration. Striping involves adding and painting pavement markings to communicate lane direction, crosswalks, stop lines, and more.
Slurry Seal Project Schedule and Traffic Impacts
The phase of the Town’s slurry seal project will take place starting on September 8 with work scheduled throughout town Monday through Thursday from 7:00am-7:00pm and Friday from 7:00am-1:00pm.
September 8–9: Striping Preparation
Crews will remove designated thermoplastic pavement markings in advance of the slurry seal application. Drivers may encounter temporary traffic controls and areas without pavement markings.
Week of September 14
Slurry seal will be applied to the following locations:
- Water Dance Drive: one lane will remain open at all times.
- Northern portion of North Ten Mile Drive: one lane will remain open at all times.
- Portions of Teller Street: The roadway will be fully closed for approximately five hours, while the slurry seal cures.
- Recreation Way through the Adventure Park: one lane will remain open at all times with traffic directed through the work zone. Motorists should expect brief delays.
- Remaining portion of North Ten Mile Drive: one lane will remain open at all times.
- Remaining portions of Teller Street: the roadway will be fully closed for approximately five hours.
- Creekside Drive from Madison Avenue to Main Street: the roadway will be fully closed for approximately five hours while the slurry seal cures.
- S. 7th Avenue from Frisco Street to McKees Way: the roadway will be fully closed for approximately five hours, while the slurry seal cures.
In advance of these closures on Teller Street, 7th Avenue, and Creekside Drive, signage will be placed, and door hangers with additional information will be placed at properties affected by these longer closures. Residents should move vehicles out of the scheduled closure areas before work begins and not drive on newly treated pavement until the roadway has reopened.
September 21: Long-line striping
Final pavement marking will be applied at all locations, which have been slurry sealed previously.
September 24–25: Thermoplastic pavement markings
Thermoplastic pavement will be applied at all locations, which have been slurry sealed previously.
Impacts
Drivers, pedestrians, and bicyclists should follow all posted signs and directions from traffic-control personnel. The schedule is weather-dependent and may change due to precipitation, temperature or other unforeseen conditions.
