Work on a Mural at the Frisco Adventure Park Nearing Completion

On Sunday, October 4, artist Greg Gossel began work on a new outdoor mural at the Frisco Adventure Park. The mural, located on the exterior of the small utility building next to Recreation Way and near the Nordic Center lodge, is expected to take approximately five days to complete with completion anticipated for October 8, 2026. The mural was commissioned by the Frisco Arts and Culture Council (FACC) out of a field of 27 artists who submitted their past work and artist experience in response to a request for artists for this mural location. The FACC chose three finalists and paid for them to create a design for this mural, and subsequently, Greg Gossel’s design was selected.

About the Artist

Greg Gossel is a Wisconsin-based artist, muralist, sculptor, and designer with nearly twenty years of professional experience creating large-scale public artwork throughout the United States and abroad. His work combines bold imagery, typography, and abstraction to create site-specific artwork that reflects communities where it lives. Gossel has completed public art projects for municipalities, corporations, and professional sports organizations. In addition to creating public artwork, Gossel regularly shares his experience through artist talks and educational programming and has spoken at performing arts schools and visited university design programs.

Project Goals and the Design

This mural was intended to reflect the vibrant year-round outdoor recreation offerings at the Frisco Adventure Park. The building is centered between the three main buildings on the Frisco Peninsula, where outdoor recreation from mountain biking in the summer to tubing and Nordic skiing in the winter are experienced by over 165,000 locals and visitors each year. This mural project is intended to be a powerful way to blend art, outdoor recreation, and a sense of place by providing a surprising, unexpected experience on a small utility building that is largely overlooked.

Gossel’s mural design was chosen by the FACC because it complements the aesthetics of the Adventure Park and contributes to the natural and built environments at the PRA by adding striking pops of color with a bold design that creates a sense of place and honors the activities, people, and wildlife at the Adventure Park. The mural will become a part of the town’s public art collection with long-term care and maintenance managed by the FACC. In alignment with the Frisco Five-Year Arts and Culture Strategic Plan, this mural reflects the town’s commitment to fostering community identity, belonging, and connection.

About the Frisco Arts and Culture Council
