Xcel Rate Increases Public Comment, Information, & Engagement Opportunities: June 4, 16, & July 28

The Colorado Public Utilities Commission (PUC) is currently reviewing two rate increase proposals filed by Xcel Energy for both electric and natural gas services. Because these changes would impact utility bills across our community, we want to ensure you have the opportunity to review the proposals and share your feedback directly with the PUC.

There are two upcoming public comment hearings and one drop in Xcel community meeting today.

Excel Electric and Gas Rate Increase Proposals and Hearings on Zoom

Here is what you need to know about each proposal:

Xcel Energy Electric Rate Increase Proposal (Proceeding No. 25AL-0494E)
Xcel Energy is seeking a $356 million increase in annual revenue. If approved, this would result in an estimated 9.9% electric bill increase for average residential customers, or roughly $9.94 more per month, starting in late August 2026.

Xcel Energy Natural Gas Rate Increase Proposal (Proceeding No. 25AL-0438G)
If this proposal is approved as filed, residential customers would see an approximate 11.4% gas bill increase (roughly $7.59 more per month), and small businesses would see a 13.0% gas bill increase (roughly $36.47 more per month).

The Review Process: Both proposals are undergoing a public review process that closely scrutinizes every aspect of Xcel’s requests, including detailed evaluations by the PUC’s own staff of economists, engineers, and accountants. A final decision by the Commission is expected in the third quarter of 2026.

Your voice matters in this process. We encourage you to attend the virtual hearings or visit the PUC website to learn more and submit written comments.
