2009 MAIL-IN BALLOT FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is the deadline to become a voter for this election?
The last day to register to vote in this election is Monday, March 30, 2009. Voter registration may be completed in person or by mail. Voters who register by mail must provide a copy of identification documents when they submit their first ballot.
How do I get the forms or ask questions?
Forms for registering to vote, or change of address are available on the Summit County elections web site or by calling 970-453-3470.
Who will receive ballots automatically?
“Active” registered voters (those who have voted in the last general election) will receive a ballot by mail automatically so long as their mailing information is up-to-date with the Summit County elections office.
Who might NOT receive a ballot automatically?
Not all voters who voted in one of the past two elections will receive ballots by mail automatically – this may vary by individual. To confirm your status and determine if you need to request a ballot, voters should call 970-453-3470. Registered voters who are not “active” must request a mail-in ballot in writing to the Frisco Town Clerk.
As a registered voter, what do I have to do?
If your registration is current, your ballot packet will automatically be mailed to you. Inside the packet you will find the ballot, a secrecy envelope and a return envelope. Once you vote the ballot, place it in the secrecy envelope and seal it in the pre-addressed return envelope. Be sure to sign the return envelope on the appropriate line. After verifying that the return envelope has your name and current address, simply return the ballot either by mail or at Frisco Town Hall.
When are the ballots mailed to the voters?
Ballots will be mailed any time between the 15th and 25th days before an election. This election, we will mail all ballots between the 3rd and 13th of April.
I will be out of town when ballots are mailed. How do I get a ballot?
Absentee ballots are available before the election. You may request an early absentee ballot from your county election official either in person, by mail, or by fax. You will need to include your name, residence address and, if different, your mailing address.
When do ballots have to be returned?
Ballots must be mailed back to the Town of Frisco in time to be counted prior to 7:00 p.m. April 28th. Ballots may be hand-carried to the clerk’s office up to the time polls close on the day of the election.
How much will it cost?
Mailed ballots must have sufficient postage. Postage is estimated at 42 cents for this year’s ballot, so long as other documentation is not included in the envelope.
