The Town of Frisco will launch a full-time afterschool program starting on August 18, 2022 (first day of elementary school) and will run through June 1, 2023 (last day of elementary school). The majority of the session-based afterschool programs previously operated by the Town will be rolled into the new Frisco Afterschool Fun Club program. The Frisco Town Council approved the program for Frisco Elementary students on July 26, 2022 in response to the shortage of afterschool childcare and programming, partially caused by the abrupt closure of Keystone Science School’s CATCH program in the spring of 2022.
“The Afterschool Fun Club will provide consistent childcare, running five days a week at Frisco Elementary School and will mimic our summer Frisco Fun Club activities, including games, team building, crafts, sports, and more. We are excited to continue to work with The Frosted Flamingo for art activities, SNOeducation for science based activities, the Frisco Historic Park for educational activities, and the Summit County Library for educational opportunities,” stated Linsey Joyce, Assistant Director of Recreation & Culture.
Program Details:
- The program will run five days per week out of Frisco Elementary School
- Programs will run from 3:55 – 5:30pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, and from 3:05 – 5:30 pm on Wednesdays.
- The program will include a mix of outdoor sports/activities, educational activities, and art.
- The program capacity will start with 25 kids per day, with the potential to increase capacity pending the hiring of additional staff.
- The program cost is $15 per day per child on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, and $20 per day per child on Wednesdays to account for early release.
- If the Town is able to secure staffing, additional session-based programs may be added throughout the year.
