Frisco Asks Drivers to be Aware of Runners on Town Roads for Frisco Turkey Day 5k

The Town of Frisco will be hosting the 8th Annual Frisco Turkey Day 5k on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 25 at 9:30 am. This event will draw hundreds of costume-clad participants, some with leashed dogs and strollers, and will require a closure of 3rd Avenue to vehicles between Granite and Teller Streets from 6:00 am to noon, as well as marshaled street crossings along the route. The 5K will begin and end at the old community Center (110 South 3rd Avenue) one block off Frisco Main Street.

The Course and Street Closures

The Turkey Day 5k will take place rain, snow, or shine, on Town of Frisco and County side streets, which generally see less traffic than the downtown area, as well as the Summit County Recreation Path.

The race begins and ends at the old community center at 3rd Avenue and Granite Street, and the route includes:

  • South 3rd Ave (closed to vehicles between Granite and Teller Streets from 6:00 am – noon)
  • Pitkin Street
  • Stellar Jay Road, Bobwhite Way, and County Rd 1000 (outside of Frisco Town limits)
  • South 7th Ave
  • Temple Trail, which is also part of the Summit County RecPath system
  • 2nd Ave, before returning to Pitkin Street

The Town is encouraging motorists to drive extra cautiously if they cannot avoid these areas between 9:30 and 11:00 am.
