Clean Tracks
With its mountain setting and proximity to some of Colorado’s major ski resorts, Frisco is on the front lines of combating climate change. The scientific concensus is that human activities are warming the planet and that the changes are likely to accelerate as emissions of greenhouse gases increase. Global warming is our problem, yet we also are the solution.
Everyone plays a role in finding ways to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Oftentimes, it is assumed that emission reductions will be costly, yet in many instances that is not the case. Many times, reducing our greenhouse gas emssions not only reduces our carbon footprint, but also results in considerable energy cost savings as well. As we continue to find solutions that work, we will transition to a cleaner energy system that embraces our environement, our economy, and our way of life.
Letter to the Frisco Community
The CleanTracks intitiative outlines the parameters of Frisco’s clean energy econcomy. The mission of the initiative is…To become a model mountain community committed to clean energy solutions, economic vitality, and environmental stewardship through: action, education, and inspiration.
The vision of the inititative is…To be an economically sustainable and socially responsible mountain community that is zero waste, clean energy independent, and carbon neutral.
Becoming a sustainable community and establishing a local clean energy economy is the basis of the CleanTracks Initiative; to think globally and act locally. The definition of a sustainable community…A sustainable community maintains the integrity of it natural resources over the long term, promotes a prosperous economy, and hosts a vibrant, equitable society. ~ International Council for Local Governments Inititaitives
The CleanTracks Initiative provides opportunities for us (citizens, businesses, visitors, and town government) to continue to progress towards sustainability and find solutions that work. It puts the Frisco community on the path to clean energy solutions and economic vitality and environmental stewardship, without compromising future generations ability to meet their own needs.
